A bit of Irish flair added to Missouri Botanical Garden . . .

Renowned Mo. Botanical Garden director, Peter Raven, is stepping down as President of the Garden and handing the job over to Dr. Peter Wyse Jackson from Dublin, Ireland. The announcement was made to the press Tuesday, although Dr. Raven will remain on board until September 1. Peter Raven has held the post in St. Louis for the past 40 years . . . and is known globally for his work on conservation and biodiversity worldwide. He has turned Mo. Botanical Garden into one of the world's foremost research and educational institutions, with projects in virtually every corner of the planet.

Dr. Peter Jackson comes to St. Louis from Dublin, where he was Director of the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland. He plans on continuing Peter Raven's legacy in horticultural displays and conservation science.

Mo. Botanical Garden will miss Dr. Raven's inspiration and sense of humor.
