APRIL FOOLS DAY ! ! ! ! !

Deceits and pranks have been tolerated, even encouraged, on this first day of April since 1564, April Fools Day . . . when King Charles IX of France passed a law that changed the beginning of the year from April 1 to January 1. News of the change traveled slowly (after all, they didn't have the internet!) Those who were either misinformed or slow to make the change still celebrated the New Year on April 1. As a result, they were mocked and pranks were pulled.

Since then, there have been many "doozies" pulled . . . from mock broadcasts (remember War of the Worlds?) . . . to voice messages at the zoo from Mr. G. Raff or L. E. Phant . . . to Google's annual spoof (wonder what it is this year) . . . to fake winning lottery tickets! (Ooops.)

Keep your guard up, suckas . . .

  1. Just a joke, Ali. April 1 is "April Fools Day" in the U.S. -- the date you're expected to have fun with a lie, a "prank." No chance is right. Ha.
