CINCO DE MAYO
Yes, today is the always festive
but the big celebration will be
Saturday, May 8.
Come down to "little Mexico"
(2700 block of Cherokee Street,
west of Jefferson) and experience
the happy taste of real Mexico,
with continuous music (8 bands,
starting at 1:00 pm), street dancing
into the night, and authentic food & drink.
And for the record, Cinco de Mayo is not
Mexico's "Independence Day", but rather
a regional holiday, commemorating Mexico's
victory over the French in 1862 at the
Battle of Puebla. The holiday is much "mas grande"
in the United States.
