IN SEARCH OF
THE "PERFECT" CHRISTMAS TREE
Holiday decorations are going up
which means it's time to pick out
the perfect Christmas tree . . .
which can be large or small, fat or tall,
artificial or a freshly cut evergreen
(spruce, balsam, pine, or fir).
Picking out just the right tree
can be a daunting task (but fun, too.)
Tying it on top of the car, taking it home,
and bringing it inside is just the start . . .
then there's the decorating to do.
Some use ornaments, lights and even
strands of cranberries and popcorn.
(In some parts of Europe, especially Germany,
it's a tradition to use lit candles on Tannenbaum.)
Christmas or holiday trees have origins back to
Estonia and Latvia (15th century) and were popular
in the 18th century in Germany and Russia,
although the custom is popular universally today.
However you celebrate the holidays,
find the decorations that put you in a cheerful mood.
(And go hug a tree!)
