Pic Today 1/10/11

What to do when your indoor miniature citrus tree
produces hundreds of baby oranges,
and your left with ripe, edible, TART fruit?

Similar to kumquats, these beautiful miniature oranges
are fragrant but oh-so-sour.
So my pastry chef friend, Brenda,
gladly took my 212 oranges and turned them
into delicious candied orange confections!

Here's the recipe:
Dissolve and heat 8 cups of sugar
into 3 cups of water; add a pinch of salt
and stemmed whole miniature oranges.
Bring to a boil, and simmer gently for 4 hours.

Voila! Candied oranges.
Sweet and sour, and so refreshing.

will try it sometime for sure .
and have a good day Rick

    Lieve groetjes, Josephine

  3. Uusia tuttavuuksia *Vauva-Appelsiinit*...!
En ole ennen nähnyt - kuvissakaan.
Kuvistasi *Rick* 'marjat' ja niiden jalostaminen selviää hyvin...
Hienosti olet asian kuvin ja tekstein esittänyt..!
Meidän talvessa ei kuki muut kuin *Tykky-Puut*...!
    Terveisin Kuusamo-Lappland...

  4. Colorful & delicious --- tell your pastry chef friend Brenda,,, thank you & will give it a try, but alas will have to buy the fruit.
