FINAL FARMERS MARKET

OF THE SEASON

Our local farmers and growers

came together one last time of the year,

for a special pre-Christmas farmers market.

It was chilly (brrrrrr!), but Schlafly Bottleworks

provided a sheltered area outside their brewery

to offer a winter bounty of seasonal produce

and products for holiday shoppers and chefs.

There was a surprising bounty of late season produce:

o  Fresh cut kale, chard and spinach

o  'Purple haze" carrots

o  'Romanesco' cauliflower (it's fractal, man, fractal!)

o  Radishes, turnips and potatoes (oh my)

o  Tiny brussell sprouts (my fave!)

o  Fresh cracked Missouri pecans

o  Wood fired wheat and rye breads

o  Free range eggs
