ROGUE UNDERGROUND DINING
GOURMET DINNER NO. 32

It's hard to believe
our secret (and now famous)
underground gourmet dining club
has just held its 32nd event . . .

each one at an improbable or unusual
location, with or without a
formal dining room or kitchen.

This time, 28 lucky "first come, first serve"
guests discovered their destination
by address only, at the final hour.
The location this time was an unoccupied
"speed shop" and auto collection site
with a most unusual top floor bedroom
with a pink double bed!

PUMPKIN DESIGN

Shopping for a pumpkin
is not so simple anymore.

They come in all sizes,
shapes and colors . . .
orange, white, green,
speckled, striped, with warts,
without warts.

Squash, gourds, pie pumpkins,
and pumpkins that weigh more
than 200 pounds!

There's something for everyone,
with many new varieties and shapes.
Someone's been busy in the pumpkin patch!

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS
CLINCH NATIONAL LEAGUE
CENTRAL DIVISION TITLE

It's official.
The Cards have clinched
another Central Division championship,
defeating the Chicago Cubs 7-0.

I picked the right game to attend Friday
as the victory sends them into the "post season" again.

The next few days will determine
which team we will play for the
National League championship.

And then it's on to another World Series.

(Yes, I had that hot dog!)

MORNING RITUAL

I'm a creature of habit.

My morning routine
 starts with a walk
to my favorite coffee shop,
awaiting their doors to open
at 6:00am sharp.

My coffee awaits.
My papers, too.
And every morning,
my neighbor (Dick)
with his two faithful dogs
(Hondo and Tinnie)
watch the city awaken
and the daylight brighten.

His table and chair
always occupied,
with his loyal companions
by his side.

Every morning.
It's a ritual
and a great way to start each day.

(Dick rescued these dogs years ago,
from a snowy hillside
on a New Mexico Indian Reservation,
and they've been by his side ever since.)

MUM'S THE WORD

. . . chrysanthemums, that is!

Mums are the "flowers of fall,"
and they're blooming everywhere.

Put a pot of mums at your front door,
and welcome in the season.

3 RECYCLED TREES

1.  A giant redwood.  Cut, erected
      and carved into a giant . . . tree!

2.  A dead tree stump.   Covered
    with hammered aluminum, to
 stand as a metallic . . . tree!

3.  A shorter tree stump.   Cut
      and carved into a . . . chair!

Not sure we're improving on the original.

(Well, they are recycled.)

CRACKS ARE IMPORTANT

I follow cracks.

They're nature's way
of keeping things from breaking.

They always follow the path
of least resistance.

They're not bad luck,
so you can step on them
(and let them lead you somewhere.)

As Doctor Who knows . . .
some are windows to the universe.

SWEET PERFORMANCE

St. Louis acoustic band,
The River Rats,
performed at The Focal Point
to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox
under a full moon.

What a great concert.
What a sweet, sweet voice.

Of course I'm not swayed
by the fact that Maggie (lead singer)
is my daughter!

Great concert.   Great band.
