A CUBAN SANDWICH
My latest food distraction . . .
You can add your own variations,
but the basic "building blocks" are:
o Cuban bread or hoagie rolls
(or good home-made bread)
o Smoked pork (or savory ham)
o Gruyere cheese (or Swiss)
o Yellow mustard
o Pickles, lots of pickles
o Butter outside sandwich halves
Then, compress in a hot 2-sided grill
(a "panini press" or George Forman
"mean grilling machine")
A freshly fried quail egg on top
makes this sandwich decadent.
