FINAL GARDEN HARVEST

Gray days . . . freezing nights . . .
it's time for a final harvest
in the vegetable garden.

Plenty of yellow and red
Swiss chard, and tender leaves
of Russian kale.
Plenty for the weeks ahead.

Now it's time to let the garden sleep

Turn the soil over.
Wheel barrows full of leaf compost
for a thick blanket of mulch.
Enjoy your winter's rest.

See you next Spring.
