Pic Today 7/8/15

NO MUD,
NO LOTUS FLOWER

The sacred lotus must grow in mud.

Always found in ponds
and shallow river banks,
a lotus seed is born of muck.

First the leaves, then the bud,
reaching for the surface.
It stays so tight
so none of the mud or murky water
can get inside the blossom.

And then the petals open
one by one.

For millenia,
every part of the sacred lotus
has been worshiped and used medicinally.

(My favorite flower!)

  3. Medicine wise I am not sure of the benefit!
But I used to eat them in Africa as a veggie.
They are all right but I can't say I'm a fan!!
Anyhow, your pics are great and the bud is a beauty :)

  5. Qui non è un fiore facile da vedere, ma le rare volte che capita fa rimanere senza parole dalla bellezza.

  9. Pardon if there are mistakes, I use a translator because I do not speak English, though I see comments in Spanish.
