A VISIT TO THE
ABRAHAM LINCOLN LIBRARY
While in Springfield, Illinois,
on a cold and rainy July afternoon,
I paid a visit to the Lincoln Library.
In addition to his collection of writings,
speeches and historical photographs,
life size dioramas featured
realistic mannequins in historical scenes . . .
including Lincoln with his cabinet
deciding on the Emancipation Proclamation,
and a recreation of a family being
sold into slavery.
(And of course the Civil War.)
A tour of this library is a very moving experience.
An important period in American history.
(And still very relevant.)
