RARE HONEY
OF THE MAYA

This is the honey,

that came from these logs,

in this Mayan village,

in the Yucatan jungle,

on my recent trip to Mexico,

that I brought back home
to give to my friend and beekeeper,
Joy Stinger.

This rare honey
comes from the endangered
melipona beechi honey bee
has no stinger, and lives in
small hives inside hollow logs,
indigenous to the Yucatan Peninsula.

The honey is highly bio-active,
used in traditional medicines by Mayans
for thousands of years.
Threatened by dwindling numbers,
the melipona bee is the main
primary pollinator of the vanilla orchid.

The taste is sublime!

(I'll be helping Joy harvest a new batch of
her wonderful honey this Saturday.
Blog photos to follow.)

  2. Muy interesante. Solo hay que ver a esa mujer para creer en los beneficios de la miel.
