TIME TO BAIL HAY

It's a beautiful time to drive
through Missouri rural farmland.

Farms have cut their hay,
into giant round bails,
storing feed for their livestock.

Round bails spread out,
drying in the warm sun.
Getting ready for colder months ahead.

(Remember when hay bails were
small rectangular cubes,
ready for throwing and stacking?)

I do.

  2. Around here we still see the smaller bales. Large round ones have disappeared because they are outlawed...they roll off the flat bed too easily. So now we have one ton rectangular beasts that no one can handle.
