WHAT DOES
CLEAN WATER
LOOK LIKE?

Like this!

Spring fed,
free flowing
rivers and streams.

(We are so lucky
in Missouri.)

BIG RIVER AT CEDAR HILL

Once a thriving mill along
the Big River.

The old Cedar Hill Mill
(now abandoned)
once milled grains grown
on farms since 1847.

Now a local landmark
along this recreational area
in central Missouri.

BOX OF SNAKES

No, not really.
They're really snake gourds,
picked from a local grower.

They make great decorations,
especially when painted
like snakes!

Or delicious to eat,
in a Snake Gourd Raita,
a favorite stew from India.

Peel and cut into rounds.
Boil equal measures of water
and curds (cottage cheese).
Sauté small onion, curry leaves,
4 crushed green chilies, cumin
seeds and turmeric powder.
Combine and cook till tender.
Serve on rice.

Available at open air markets now.

GORGEOUS HARVEST

Much more than pumpkins
this season.

Don't know what they are,
but they're so beautiful.

SCARY PUMPKIN MARKET

I think our local pumpkin stand
might be haunted.

They've got lots of pumpkins,
but there are ghosts and goblins
everywhere.

FINALLY

The rain and chilly weather
has helped the fall foliage
to turn on.

DECISIONS DECISIONS

There's a pumpkin out there
just waiting for you.

Still plenty to choose from.
Just don't wait too long.

BLUE PUMPKINS

And yes,
they're really pumpkins
(not gourds or squash.)

Kinda' cool.
For a change!

LOVE A LEAF

If it's autumn where you live,
pay attention to the trees
around you.

The show is underway.
Colors are taking hold.

Reach down, pick up a
beautiful leaf.

Love what you see.

So beautiful.

MY FAVORITE ACORN

We're blessed with the
magnificent burr oak tree
in Missouri.

And this is a good year
for their wonderful acorns,

with their charming straw hats!

HARVEST COLORS OF AUTUMN

Pumpkins and gourds.
Eggplant and squash.

Colors and flavors that salute
the fall harvest.

A dazzling palette!

SASSAFRAS,
FIRST TREE OF AUTUMN

Unseasonably hot weather
slows the colors of fall,
except for the ever dependable
Sassafras.

Always a show!

KIDS DISCOVER TREASURES
AT CRYSTAL FEST

The final day of Midwest Crystal Fest
was full of discoveries for kids . . .

breaking open geodes
to discover crystals inside,
and a "crystal hunt" in the woods
where kids (and their parents)
were led to trails full of
crystals and sparkly treasures.

Something for kids of all ages.

Can't wait till next year's Crystal Fest!
