LYRICS WORTH
A TATTOO

I met a stranger last night
(we'll call him Bill)
with a tattoo on his arm.

It was too many words
to catch a "complete read" from afar,
so I asked him for a closer look.

He explained (as I took this picture):

"There's this line, from a Modest Mouse song,
'Edit The Sad Parts', that haunts me . . .
SOMETIMES I'M ANGRY THAT I FEEL SO ANGRY . . .
so I decided to have it inked on my arm."

"But then it made no sense, if I didn't include it all."

I'm always amazed at the passion and permanence
of the "story behind each tattoo."

As for me . . .
all I really want to feel is love.
(And not necessarily a tattoo needle.)

GILLIAN WELCH
BREAKS OUT OF CREATIVE SLUMP
(AND HOW!)

After a decade of creative frustration,
singer/songwriter Gillian Welch
(with the help of David Rawlings,
guitar maestro and creative partner)
has broken out of a frustrating writing and recording slump.

With the release of their long awaited album,
The Harrow & The Harvest,
Welch and Rawlings have kicked off
a world wide tour in St. Louis last night
at the famed Pageant Theater.

Their all acoustic performance was flawless.

In addition to venues across the U.S.,
their tour takes them to Norway, Sweden, Germany,
Netherlands, France, England, Scotland and Ireland.

WHO CAN TURN YOUR COFFEE
INTO A WORK OF ART?

Local baristas showed up at a competition
to decide just that, at the
"Latte Art Throwdown" in St. Louis last night.

St. Louis area "coffee artists" topped off
their espresso drinks with steamed milk
to make fancy lattes and cappuccinos . . .
with hearts, and tulips, and ferns and rosettas,
in front of judges to determine the best
and most beautiful coffee drink.

Coffee that's as beautiful as it is delicious.

Congratulations, Alex.
Thanks a latte!

I LOVE PINEAPPLES

What a beautiful, delicious fruit.
The pineapple.

Grown world wide . . .
the top producers are Taiwan, Puerto Rico,
Hawaii, Philippines, Costa Rica, Mexico & Colombia.

My favorite way to serve fresh pineapple . . .
put thick slices on the grill.
Serve them hot and juicy. Yum!

Here's "Mr. Pineapple" backstage
at a recent "indie" music festival in St. Louis.

Love 'em, love 'em, love 'em.
