THE GRADUAL COLORS
OF AUTUMN

Slowly but surely,
the shades of autumn are showing.

In the leaves, turning gold and red;
the grasses swaying gentle browns;
and seeds holding next year's promise.

The signs are everywhere.
Do you see it?

BEES ARE BUSY

Very busy.

Days are getting shorter.
Flowers' last bloom.

Time to collect the season's last nectar.
Busy bees. No time to waste.

Even frogs know it's time to get ready.
(Especially this tiny tree frog,
no larger than the bees above.)

REMEMBER WHEN PUMPKINS
JUST CAME IN "ORANGE" ?

It's pumpkin time,
and there's lots of colors to choose from,
these days.

A wide choice of sizes, too.

There's traditional orange pumpkins,
perfect for cutting a jack-o-lantern.
Plus striped and multi-colored ones,
in every color of the rainbow . . .
including black, white, blue and green.

There's even pumpkins with warts!

Put one at your front door
for the holidays.

WATCHING MAGGIE PERFORM

What a joy and pleasure
to watch (and hear) my daughter, Maggie,
perform on stage.

Her flawless voice.
Her fingers and bow making "fiddle magic."

Her band, The River Rats,
performed last night,
with her husband, Andy,
in Hermann, Missouri . . .
a winery town on the Missouri River.

What a delight.
(Papa is so proud.)

BALLOON GLOW
IN FOREST PARK

The Great Forest Park Balloon Race
kicked off Friday night
with a pre-race "Balloon Glow".

Visitors are able to get up close to the 70+ balloons,
as they flame-up their beautiful balloons
without lifting off.
The glow of these magnificent silk orbs
in the evening sky is a spectacle not to be missed.

The race kicks off tomorrow, with the Energizer Bunny balloon
getting a short "head start",
chased by 70 competing balloons,
floating above St. Louis and following the bunny route.

After the bunny lands,
the competing balloon who drops a bag of birdseed
closest to the bunny wins the grand prize.

This is the 39th annual balloon race in St. Louis.
