HOW TO MAKE A CITY
BEAUTIFUL

1. Plant lots of flowering fruit trees.
(Shoot pictures when it's foggy.)

2. Set aside lots of green space.
(Parks and gardens for the people.)

3. Preserve historic neighborhoods.
(People like living there.)

People like living in beautiful cities!

2012
VERNAL EQUINOX

The first day of Spring has sprung

. . . and how!

The green, green grass,
the flowering trees,
the bulbs and bloooms.

The bees must be going crazy!

Where ever you are,
I hope you are enjoying
the best of your season.

THE MAGNOLIA
PUTS ON A SHOW
IN TWO ACTS

First, she fills her limbs
with glorious flowers,
a star shell of color.

And then she drops her petals
on the ground, and lets the show continue.
A blanket of pink surrounding her branches.

Two shows to honor the First Day of Spring.

(Today we mark the Vernal Equinox.)

SPRING MUSHROOM SEASON

Warm days and spring rains
bring life to the forest floor,
so it's fun to go mushroom hunting.

But you better know your fungi!

Maggie and little Metta joined me
in the hunt for rare (and unmistakable)
morel mushrooms, but alas . . .
not yet!

But there's plenty of other fungi, lichens
and "mushrooms" to find,
and not collect.

A great time to hike and watch the forest come alive.
