CAHOKIA MOUNDS

Directly across the Mississippi River
from downtown St. Louis, MO
was once the most extensive urban center
in prehistoric America.

A community of man made earthen structures,
covering 6 square miles, 120 mounds in all.
Built by ancient mound builders
from A.D. 700 to 1400.

The largest structure, Monks Mound,
still offers the best views,
and can be climbed by visitors.

Occupied until 1400
with a population of 20,000.

It may have collapsed because
of changing climate.

The visitors center is full of historic relics, carvings,
tools and arrow points.

THERE'S NOT A BEACH ON OUR PLANET
THAT'S NOT FREE FROM OUR PLASTICS

Sad fact -- our plastic waste all ends up
in our rivers and oceans.

Single-use plastic soda and water bottles,
shopping bags, cups, bottle caps,
flip-flops,  cigarette butts, sunglasses.

Scientists estimate 8-million metric tons
ends up in the oceans each year.
And micro plastics end up in all sea life,
and in every turtle still living.
So we're poisoning ourselves.

4OCEAN volunteers are actively cleaning
up beaches in the U.S., Haiti, Guatemala.

Here's 2 things you can do, to help:

1.  Support Ocean Conservancy and
     visit "4ocean.com" to learn more.

2.  Stop buying beverages in single use
plastic bottles.  Get and use your own bottle.
Refuse plastic grocery bags and containers.

Spread the word, not the trash.

SUDDEN SNOW

The view out my window
yesterday morning.

Recent mild weather
made the ground to warm
for any accumulation,
but the snow held fast
to branches and windshields.

March must be near.

MEET GINNETTE

Well behaved, sitting in
her high chair,
at the antique shoppe.

Don't know any Ginnettes.
Do you?
