GOT YOUR "KING CAKE" YET?
King Cake is a sweet tasty cake
eaten on "Kings Day"
or Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras),
with 3 important colored icings.
According to tradition, a small
plastic baby (symbolizing baby Jesus)
is hidden inside the cake.
And whoever finds it receives good luck,
and is also responsible for buying
next year's cake.
It is customarily adorned with
purple, green and gold icing.
Purple for justice,
green for faith and
gold for power.
Mardi Gras is always the last day
of the Carnival season,
the day before Ash Wednesday,
the first day of Lent.
