CORN:

GIFT FROM THE GODS

The origin of corn and

its cultivation

is a mystery that goes back

to the Mayan civilization.

Fact is:

corn is totally dependent on man,

and cannot survive without us.

Although it is a "seed" plant,

it is unable to reproduce itself!

Only 1% of the corn grown today is

"sweet corn", grown and picked fresh

for human food consumption.

The remaining corn varieties are grown

and harvested hard and dry --

flint (Indian corn), dent (field corn)

and hybrid varieties for specialized uses

(popcorn, fuel corn and industrial starch uses.)

All varieties of corn must be cultivated and planted.

Except, that is,

for "candy corn."
