THE COVEN GATHERS
Each year, about this time,
my friend and neighbor, Pattie,
calls her witch friends together
for a grand celebration.
Outside, in front of her house,
the coven gathers under the full moon,
to do "witch things" and eat "witch food."
(As well as certain spells and potions.)
When night falls, they gather
'round their "witch fire",
and bond together
in their "witch coven."
(To scary to stick around.)

STINGER'S GREEN THUMB
My good friend, and bee keeper,
Joy Stinger (real name)
gave me a personal tour
of her 3rd story greenhouse,
and showed off her bonzai collection,
and rare tropical blooms . . .
including her fragrant brugmansia . . .
a pineapple geranium . . . and
her prized huernia zebrina,
better known as the "Life Saver plant."
Lots of tender, loving care
for this upper story greenhouse,
in addition to her 24 bee hives,
booming wholesale honey business,
backyard vegetable garden,
year long aviary, tropical fish,
basement rabbit hutch
and handmade beeswax figurines
(from antique German molds.)
As I left, Joy waved and said
"just wait till you see this
year's Christmas decorations."
(In her 80's, and going strong.)

ROGUE UNDERGROUND DINING
CELEBRATES ITS 50th EVENT
Hardly 5 years after its first event,
Rogue Underground Dining Society
has held its 50th "secret" dinner . . .
this time with a waiting list of 50 members
to get an invite to this momentous occasion.
25 were lucky to accept a "first come, first serve"
email invite and attend a 9-course gourmet dinner
at the B-Hive in the Central West End.
A good time was had by all.
(And then some!)
