FUTURE CHERRY WOOD

FURNITURE

I watched a neighbor today

take down an old cherry tree,

maybe 80 years old or so.

And with only a chain saw

and the help of a friend,

slice this grand old wood

into long, thin slabs.

To be air dried,

maybe 2 years or more,

and crafted into fine

dining room furniture.

I asked my woodworker friend

to call me when the transformation begins.
