THE MOREL MOMENT
It was the exact moment,
following all our cold rainy days,
two days -- two fleeting days --
when clouds disappeared and
thermometers hit the 80s.
Kapow!
Morels everywhere.
Morel mushrooms found their moment,
and sprouted underfoot.
Timing is everything.
Time to walk in the woods.
It's morel mushroom time!

ReplyDeleteSauté in olive oil (or butter) with vegetables, salmon . . . or in a cream sauce with cutlets. These are a seasonal gourmet treat.
