ON THE UPPER MERAMEC

The best time to catch trout

is when no one else is fishing.

The winter waters are always

calm, clean and clear,

especially on the upper Meramec River.

Especially at dusk.

Like yesterday.

And the fish were biting!

NEW YEAR'S DAY

QUIET AND STILL

Cold, foggy, quiet.

The day after New Year's.

On this national holiday,

no cars on the street,

few stores are open.

Everyone seems happy to

just stay at home.

It's nice.

"Not a creature was stirring,

not even a mouse."

over City Hall

in Kirkwood, Missouri.

at the cabin, the river,

is the only place to be.
