 A MOMENT ALONE

. . . with Abraham Lincoln,

16th president of the United States,

who changed the course of human events

"that all men are created equal."

On a trip to Washington D.C. last year,

I made it a point to visit the Lincoln Memorial.

I paid a cab driver to take me there

in the middle of the night,

to stand before his great statue,

for a moment alone.

You cannot help but be moved

by his presence.
