EARLY SPRING
AT THE RIVER
Warm, sunny weekend
gave me the perfect excuse
to head to the cabin,
and look for signs of Spring
at the Meramec River.
The earth has awakened.
Spring is fully evident
in all places.
(And how!)
The watercress is tangy and sweet.
A bright red tree flower
on the riverbank,
unidentified and spectacular.
New rocks since winter's flood.
Lots of frogs.
And busy beavers.
(No TV. No election updates.)
