TIME'S RUNNING OUT
Just 3 days remaining.
Halloween is nearly here.
Time to pick out a pumpkin (or two).
Whether you carve a jack-o-lantern,
or place one at your front door
(or make a pie).
Whether it's traditional orange,
or white, or green,
this is the weekend to
make your selection.
Pick your pumpkin!

WORLD'S BEST APPLE BUTTER
Quite possibly!
at Odelehr Farms in Brussels, Illinois.
I consider myself a connoisseur of
small batch, hand-stirred apple butter.
Fortunately, I live close to
the prized apple orchards
in Calhoun County, Illinois
(a short drive across the Mississippi
from St. Louis.)
10 years ago, I happened upon a
roadside farm stand offering
local apple butter . . .
Mrs. Odelehr's Farm, Brussels, Illinois.
It's been a love affair ever since!
Her secret to the best apple butter:
1. Freshest local apples.
2. Washed, cored and sliced.
3. Cooked and hand stirred in
solid copper kettles, 24 hours.
4. Cinnamon and sugar to taste
(not too sweet.)
Final taste test:
Spoon liberally on warm buttered bread.
Yum!
(Thank you, Mrs. Odelehr.)

CRYSTAL POWER
I've always been attracted to crystals.
Studied them. Collected them.
Crystals are very special.
With certain properties and powers.
Example: Digital wrist watches
owe their accuracy to quartz crystals,
which vibrate precisely
to thousands of a second.
Without preaching their cosmic and
specific powers, I will only suggest
we are just learning about crystals.
I am proud to show you my recent
very personal crystal acquisition . . .
this Lemurian Quartz Crystal.
It's a beauty.

WEEKEND DRIVEWAY
I love the driveway
to my weekend retreat.
Not many dirt roads
I stop to take pictures of.
(Except this one.)
Quiet, always beautiful.
Especially this time of year.
Lined with Missouri sassafras trees.
The only leaf with 1, 2 or 3 fingers.
(like this one)
Wishing you a beautiful weekend
where ever you live.
